Melissa Lentz, RN, is a senior clinical product trainer. She joined Altruista in January 2020.
Why did you go into nursing?
I chose nursing because I love people and have soft spot in my heart for helping others.
What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the profession of nursing?
The most surprising thing I have learned about nursing is that the flexibility of having a nursing degree can open up job opportunities. In my 29 years as a registered nurse, I have been a bedside NICU RN, a case manager for the U.S. Army, a product manager and a trainer.
What inspires you the most in your day-to-day work?
My inspiration comes from my family and my faith. I find a positive in every situation and try to see the best in everyone I meet. I am a true optimist.
How does Altruista support the higher values of nursing?
Altruista has supported me by embracing my past knowledge as a bedside RN and the knowledge I have brought from past work experiences.
