Altruista CEO Ashish Kachru is a Panelist at BIO International

Ashish Kachru was a recent panelist at the BIO International conference, discussing how artificial intelligence and machine learning are being used now in the life sciences. Ashish said that humans react well to situations of large magnitude like the one the world is currently facing. He believes that AI/ML could be used to alert us much sooner to variations in data that would foretell another pandemic now that “humanity has woken up” to the reality of the threat.

Ashish noted that human beings can’t help but have biases, but that technology can take bias out of clinical models so best practices can be developed. “This will allow us to transform lives to better outcomes one at a time,” he said.

He mixed it up on the panel with other CEOs, entrepreneurs and innovators. The virtual panel was led by moderator Moira Gunn, host of NPR’s Tech Nation (top left). Also pictured (bottom left) are Brian Martin from Abbievie and Michael Keane of GSK Consumer Healthcare.

The week-long conference was attended by more than 7,000 participants from 64 countries.
