What would you say to someone who is considering a career in nursing?

One should understand the reason/motivation behind becoming a nurse. Nursing is a versatile profession. Modern nursing has evolved in many ways, evolving a bundle of job opportunities in multiple sectors based on the qualification and specialty. I strongly recommend nursing as a career choice.

What inspired you to become a nurse?

I stepped into nursing profession purely by chance. The profession made me a new person and my perception, understanding and judging capabilities changed completely. I was lucky to advocate for patient care in different settings like intensive care, emergency care, psychiatric, primary care and health camps.

What is the best part of your nursing job?

The best part of being a nurse is that every day is a new beginning and a great learning experience. My nursing experience has helped me address the clinical, analytical and workflow needs that are critical to effective care coordination. As an educator and counselor, I have helped patients and their families to understand their conditions, medications and self-care skills. I am happy to extend this to the lives of a colossal-sized population through Altruista Health.

Anything else you want people to know about your profession?

There is an ever-growing demand for nurses as there is a global shortage of nurses. Nurses can perform multiple roles in different places, and this is not restricted to hospitals. Thanks to technology innovations, the roles and responsibilities of nurses have changed in a million ways. I am hoping the profession sees more advancements and innovative career choices, while the core concepts are preserved.
